GRE score requirements or expectations can and do vary considerably, even within the same university. At the University of Chicago's Harris School of Public Policy, the average GRE scores of accepted students are typically in the 75th percentile, which equals approximate section scores of 157 verbal and 160 quantitative. Graduate students admitted to Chicago's Department of Political Science have higher averages on both sections (166 verbal and 162 quantitative). The Department of Geophysical Sciences reports average GRE scores above 158 verbal and 163 quantitative. Some University of Chicago departments do not disclose their testing data at all, forcing prospective students to rely on outside sources of information. GRE score standards are set with a number of considerations in mind, including degree level, degree program skill emphasis, institutional and departmental selectivity, and type of admission sought. We advise all of our GRE clients to learn as much as possible about their chosen programs' policies and procedures with respect to the GRE, and to set target scores that are above program averages.

GRE Prep Course Port Elizabeth - Photo of Student Tamara

I would like to let you know that I took the GRE on Monday, December 6th and earned a score of 1200 (600 verbal, 600 quantitative). I think that I did very well on the essay portion of the test as well but won't receive those scores in the mail for a couple weeks or so. I would like to thank my instructor (George S.) and Manhattan Review for helping me to increase my score so much (I got a 1050 the first time I took the GRE in 2002) Thank you very much.

He has been teaching GRE prep courses and individual tutoring for Manhattan Review in the United States and in Port Elizabeth for seven years, and has helped more than 500 students achieve their goals of graduate school acceptance.
