Most applicants to graduate programs in the United States are required to submit GRE scores. The Graduate School at Duke University, for example, mandates the GRE for all but a few of its degree offerings. Information about student GRE performance is not always listed on university websites, and when this data is available, it is often provided by individual departments. It is nonetheless important for students to be aware of typical GRE scores for students accepted to the programs they are considering, and Manhattan Review can help students find this data. The Psychology Department at UC Berkeley reports that the latest cohort of students in its cognitive neuroscience program averaged 161 verbal, 168 quantitative, and 4.5 analytical writing. The John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Harvard University lists average GRE scores for enrolled students in the 90th to 95th percentile for quantitative (which an official percentile table shows to match scores of 166-168) and the 75th to 80th percentiles (157-158) for verbal.
Students who wish to gain acceptance to strong graduate programs must excel on the GRE, especially in the sections that are most relevant to their academic discipline. Manhattan Review's GRE programs in Cape Town teach students how to receive GRE scores that are commensurate with their goals. Our GRE prep is well worth the effort and expense, leading to a graduate education that offers both higher salaries and lower unemployment. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, holders of a master's degree earn a median annual salary of nearly $70,000, while doctoral and professional degree recipients do even better at approximately $84,000 and $90,000 respectively. The unemployment rate for workers with advanced degrees ranges from 1.7% to 2.4%, which is much lower than the overall rate of 4.3%. Graduate education is clearly a reliable path to professional and economic stability. Manhattan Review's GRE prep courses and private tutoring in Cape Town will help you get started on a rewarding, prosperous, and secure future.
