Manhattan Review's group courses, whether taken on-site or online, provide all of the benefits of interaction with instructors and other students. Many test-takers prefer group instruction because it offers a variety of perspectives on ACT preparation issues and allows the pooling of study resources. Our private ACT tutoring plans are designed for students who wish to receive customized instruction. One-on-one learning allows students to focus exclusively on their own individual ACT weaknesses. All types of students can improve their ACT skills with our ACT practice tests, which guide ACT learning with precise assessments of progress in all ACT sections. Whichever ACT learning plan you choose, you'll be taught by Cape Town's most qualified ACT educators, who have proven track records of success.
Optimal ACT scores for a given student depend on the institution he or she wishes to attend. Highly selective private universities, such as Harvard, Princeton, or Yale, generally report average ACT scores of 33 or above for their accepted students. Student ACT performance at larger state universities is typically a few points lower, such as the University of Texas-Austin (29), UCLA (29), and Ohio State (28). ACT scores can vary by school or department within a university. At the University of Illinois, the overall ACT average is approximately 29, but the mean ACT score for engineering students is 32. Some institutions have minimum ACT score requirements. The University of Missouri mandates a composite ACT score of at least 24 from its applicants. Manhattan Review's ACT prep services in Cape Town help all types of students receive the ACT scores that give them the best chances of acceptance to their chosen schools.

Meet a Cape Town ACT Tutor: Tinsley L.
Tinsley L. was born and raised in Dubuque, Iowa, where she was the valedictorian of her high school class. She holds a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a master's degree in history from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has been teaching ACT and SAT prep since her junior year at Illinois in 2006.
In her ACT teaching, Tinsley strives to build broad skillsets that apply to all sections of the exam. "If students learn how to best approach preparing for and taking the ACT, they will be able to more easily master specific ACT question types," she says. "My teaching is based on showing them how to study with this larger perspective in mind." When she's not teaching, Tinsley enjoys social media, board games, and travel.
